About 53-11
This blog is run by Steve Buck from Rochester, NY. I am a software engineer and due to my profession I sit around way too much. I have a lot of interests in a lot outdoor activities: cycling, backpacking, hiking, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, kayaking, and canoeing.
The blog title, “53-11″ refers to the largest ratio between the chain rings and the cassette on a typical road bike. Basically it means if you are riding 53-11, you are pushing yourself to the highest extent that the bike allows you to. The purpose of this blog is my personal journey to push myself as hard as my fitness level dictates in the activities that I persue.
I am by no means claiming to be an expert in any of the areas that I write about. The activities that I write about here are my hobbies. Anything I say is an expression of either my opinion or something that I have witness when participating in these activities.
